Admiralty,

I have laid before my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, your letter of the 25th instant transmitting copy of a despatch, dated the 15 January last, received by the Earl of Kimberley, from the Governor of Hongkong, respecting a trial trip of Her Majesty's Ship "Wivern".
2. In reply their Lordships desire me to state to Lord Kimberley that the "Wivern" was sent to Hongkong last year with the view of her being placed as Reserve as an addition to the squadron in China.
